Maybelline’s Shiny-Licious

Maybelline Solar Power

While tons of our girlfriends swear by Maybelline Great Lash mascara, we just haven’t been able to feel its love.

It weighs down our perfectly crimped curl and straightens out our lashes instantly, which is sort of a bummer because we really want to love this mascara.

But not to worry, as Maybelline has plenty other stars on their shelf, like this Shiny-Licious Lip Gloss in Pink Bikini, a limited edition color in their Solar Power collection.

Cool, casual and slightly flirty– this shiny pale pink is the perfect weekend shade.

(Also, at only $6 bucks, it doesn’t hurt as much when it ‘disappears’ at the hands of the teenagers.)

While every upcoming collection brings us excitement and anticipation, there’s always one or two products that grab ahold of us and WON’T LET GO.

These are the items that keep us awake at night, worrying that the stores will sell out before we can get our hands on them.

So we might as well just tell you now that we will not rest easy until Black Plum, an intense black-violet Eye Colour from the Laura Mercier Fall 2007: Indian Summer collection is safely tucked in our Makeup Bag.

We’re captivated.

Because a little maintenance goes a long way

Keeping our feet sandal-ready all summer without spending the equivalent of our car payment on weekly salon pedicures can be tricky. (Besides, weekly pedicures are for wimps!) (Rich wimps–but wimps, still.)

Hot summer air wreaks havoc on our exposed feet, leaving us with dry heels and ratty cuticles in no time at all. Even with perfectly polished toes, we find ourself opting for ballet flats over sandals to save our neighbors from the horror that lies beneath.

Because we’re no wimp (and definitely not rich) we found a quick, easy solution for our summer-feet woes. Just minutes of daily maintenance helps our feet stay sandal-worthy without breaking the bank:

Lamisilk Cleanse Exfoliating Scrub removes dry, rough skin and leaves our feet soft and smooth. Used in the shower, this corn meal based scrub with a yummy almond scent keeps our heels exfoliated and looking fresh.

After we step out of the shower, we slather our feet in Cetaphil Moisturizing CetaphilLotion, a fragrance free moisturizer with super-human powers. This fast absorbing lotion was formulated for extremely dry skin and is our go-to guy for skin issues. The key to this product is its ability to lock in moisture without leaving us feeling greasy. (Read: no sliding around in our slip-on sandals!)

Finally, we’ve told you this trick before, but we always apply a little cuticle oil to keep our cuticles looking salon-perfect.

Add a weekly trim and polish job, and everyone thinks we’ve spent the last hour in a pedicure chair reading US Weekly and dishing about Britney’s extensions.

Follow our three steps and you’ll have them fooled, too.
